Treasures of Innocence (ToI) is a registered non-profit organization working since 2013. It is about enabling children form underprivileged households to dream of a world where one can stand with courage, confidence and hope.
Treasures of Innocence implements its objectives through three on ground initiatives for slum and rural children- (i) Activity Based Learning , a bridge course to teach children basics in mathematics, language and sciences through various games and activities , (ii) Kotha Kahini which develops reading skills among children, (iii) Joy of Creation brings forth revival of folk art within children and (iv) leadership and career counselling for youth.
The Treasures of Innocence targets students from economically and socially marginal communities and works in schools which abut urban slums or in orphanages and children homes and those located in relatively remote rural locations.
In order to raise funding for its activities, Treasures of Innocence trains women in slums to make cards, recycled paper bags and files. The returns from such sales help give a livelihood option to these women and also provides funding for Treasures of Innocence initiatives. However the turnover has been low in wake of limited marketing channels despite the quality and workmanship being of the highest order.
